Editing Services
Are you looking to make your written work more engaging and effective? I would love to help edit your nonfiction book, website, information product, and other texts.
Below are the editorial services I offer. If you already know which one(s) you need, great! If not, that’s okay; we will discuss your needs and figure out a strategy together.
Please contact me here and briefly describe your project. I’ll get back in touch by email.
Structural or Substantive Editing
Structural or substantive editing looks at the overall organization of your manuscript, including big-picture issues like structure, flow, tone, and overall quality.
Line and Copy Editing
Line editing is a line-by-line review of your manuscript, with a focus on style, voice, word choice, and sentence flow. Copy editing ensures your manuscript is free of errors or inconsistencies in spelling, grammar, and punctuation. I can follow your in-house style guide and/or guides like Chicago, AP, or APA.
Proofreading
Proofreading is the final polish before publication and includes checking for errors in spelling, capitalization, punctuation, formatting, and typography.
Indexing
Indexes help readers navigate a book. From books to PDF downloads, I can prepare an index of the important concepts and terms referenced in your work.
Editorial Style Guides
A style guide helps members of an organization communicate in a consistent voice. Whether you run a small blog or a large company, I can help you create a style guide that includes elements such as brand voice, inclusive language standards, special terminology, spelling and punctuation rules, and formatting guidelines.
INCLUSIVE LANGUAGE
Inclusive language is guided by principles of respecting all people, being intentional about recognizing diversity, and promoting equal opportunities. As an editor I can help you be conscious of words and phrases in your work that may unintentionally lead to marginalization, misrepresentation, and stereotyping. Language is powerful; let’s use it for good!
